Who are you? I'm Sam - I am a psychology graduate and training to be a family therapist.  I have been teaching functional and strength based classes for 2 years.  I am a qualified TRX trainer and I specialise in strength training.

Where did you train?  I train mainly in the gym and I try and do a few classes a week to compliment my training. 

How do you teach?  My mind focus when teaching is technique and strength building and building confidence.

How will I feel after your class?  You will feel accomplished with what you have achieved in the session, shocked that you were able to use that weight, you have always been afraid to use. Every session there is something to gain, confidence in your ability is the most important. You will also be very hungry, as you would have worked up a good sweat!!!

What do you do to keep fit?  I like to train myself in the gym, mainly doing strength training, using barbells, kettlebells, TRX and dumbbells. For Cardio I like to go to spin and I also try and do one reformers class weeks focusing on muscle engagement and core strength. I try and get 7-8 hours of sleep a night (very hard) and drink around 3 litres of water a day.

What rule do you live by?  My rule of living is creating balance and doing what is right for your body and mind. This is the only life we have, you want that that chocolate, go for it. But make sure that when you’re in the gym or in a class you give every session 100%.

Give us your 1 top tip to stay fit and healthy.  Give yourself at least 1-2 rest days a week. Your body needs time to repair and rebuild, not giving yourself rest days will slow down your progress and can also make you sick.
