If you are feeling uncertain, afraid or down in the dumps, remember, you are not alone. How do we make sense of the never ending chaos in the world and still function in our daily lives?
Here are a few ways that we find helpful:
Look after your body
You use up a lot of energy if you carry injury or the aches and pains of imbalance in your body. Looking after your physical body is SO much more than how you look. When you move more you start a chain of processes that allow your body to function to its optimum. You’ll soon start to notice how much more energy you have. Your body is truly amazing and deserves your care and attention.
Find some joy in the everyday
It could be getting lost in a great book, going to the theatre or art gallery, helping someone out, smiling at as many people as you can in one day or just sitting in the park. Do something every day that makes your heart feel good, it’s like strengthening a muscle, the more you do it, the more naturally it will come.
Introduce contemplation into your day
Giving your head some space allows your mind to be free of the constant chatter and noise. A head full of problems doesn’t allow solutions to bubble up. Whether you want to practise meditation or walk in the fresh air, taking time out regularly will allow your mind to wander.
Pushing through life exhausted and emotional isn’t a long term strategy, sometimes a good night’s sleep can help put things in perspective. If you turn that into a lifestyle choice, you’ll find your decisions are based on something more concrete than just fleeting emotions.
Be the change
Throwing your hands in the air and blaming Governments might feel like you are doing something, it actually isn’t empowering at all. A good question to ask in any situation is “what can I do?” This is a great way to gain control of world events that make you feel powerless. You could volunteer or mentor, you could give your unwanted belongings to a charity shop or you could lobby for change. Do something no matter how small, to build the better world that you want.
