Yoga juice



Here is my recipe for a super juice to get me going in the morning, it's especially good after a long bank holiday weekend and gives me the get-up-and-go to teach first thing.

You'll need a strong blender, I use a Vitamix.

4 sticks of celery

Half a cucumber

1 Pepper de-seeded and stalks removed

1 apple

small handful of coriander

1 carrot

2 small beetroot

1 small lime, skin and seeds removed.

3/4 litre of mineral water ( add as much or little to get the right consistency for you)

Use organic veg as then you don't need to peel anything. Scrub the veg under a running tap. Remove seeds where needed. Pop it into the blender, add the water and whiz it up. Pour it into a tupperware jug and keep in the fridge. Give it a good shake before you pour.

This power packed juice is not only delicious but offers a range of benefits too:

Beetroot great for boosting stamina and contains potassium, magnesium, iron as well as vitamins A, B6 and folic acid. It can drastically reduce high blood pressure and is believed to regenerate the cells of the immune system. Beetroot is also said to be good cure for eye fatigue.

Celery is a good source of vitamin c and fibre as well as vitamins B1 B6 and B2 as well as calcium.

As well as adding some pep to your veg juices, coriander leaves have anti-inflammatory, anti-fungal and anti-bacterial properties.

Carrots also offer an excellent source of fibre, provitamin A carotenes vitamin K, and biotin. They are a good source of vitamins B6 and C, potassium, and thiamine. Carrots contain antioxidant compounds which help to protect against cardiovascular disease.

Cucumbers have a soothing effect on the skin and are a good source of vitamins A, C, and folic acid. Cucumber is an excellent source of silica, which is a trace mineral that contributes to the strength of our connective tissue.

Apples contain vitamins C, K and B6, important for normal human functioning. Antioxidants in apples block absorption of harmful free radicals that can age you prematurely.
