Eleah Waters is a certified STOTT Pilates instructor and has been practising Pilates in a variety of ways for over nine years. What began as a method of rehabilitation for the odd injury as a professional dancer, soon became an invaluable tool to create balance, posture, efficient bio-mechanics, and strength in the whole body.

Capacity for change

The human body has an amazing capacity to change and quickly. Which means that if you are stuck in your habitual groove it won’t take long to learn new patterns.

It all comes back to technique, if you are 100% committed to good technique in every class, your movements will be targeted and more efficient. It also means that you will lay down better patterns in your body and take them effortlessly from your class into your life.

Drop into a technique class and notice how much more empowered you feel in your regular classes, a few for you to try:

Glow Yoga Foundation class, these are beginner friendly but also great for those looking to improve their yoga practice. You’ll get lots of instruction on the bread and butter yoga poses and every class focuses on a different pose every week.

Experienced teachers Clare, Zofia and Kathleen will take you through your paces. Book in.

Power Plates techniques – NEW 2pm class on the 2nd Tuesday of every month at Covent Garden – pointers to get the most from your classes  - Rhia will adjust you so that you are in your optimal alignment. The first one is on the 12th August 2pm book in here.

What is the best time of day to practise/exercise?

Personally I enjoy working out mid morning. I would've had plenty of time to hydrate, digest a nutritious breakfast, and generally feel more awake. If my client's ask when is best for them to train, I tend to suggest before or after work, especially the morning. It gets you off to a good start and puts you into a good mind set that you can continue with throughout the day. This also allows less time for any self sabotage to rear it's ugly head and plot an excuse to not train.

What do you recommend to eat before your class? After the class?

Well I'm a big fan of juicing, and follow a lot of the ph balancing principles. A green juice first thing (worth investing in a decent juicer that doesn't oxidise the juice) so you've had a vitamin & mineral boost, warm lemon water to hydrate & help cleanse the kidneys, followed by a scrummy pre-soaked whole grain brekkie such as red Quinoa or Oat grouts, warmed back up with some coconut milk & chopped apple and soaked sunflower seeds. Yum yum!

Post workout, some more chlorophyll rich veggies, so mixed leaves, nutritious Avocado, high antioxidant tomatoes, olives, cleansing cucumber & celery, and protein and omega 3 & 6 full Mackerel. Fresh lemon squeezed over and maybe some olive oil and seeds. Chlorophyll rich veggies are one of the best ways to help against free radicals that can be produced during a workout - so is priority number 1 in my books.

What do you love about Good Vibes?

I've worked at Good Vibes for several years so you can tell I love it here. Everyone is really friendly and positive. Good Vibes has high standards & practises quality workouts respectful of spinal alignments & joint care, and opening out commonly tight area's to improve posture.  We also have ongoing training to ensure we're on top of our game.

What do you teach in class?

So in my classes I aim to tick a lot of boxes. Opening tight area's, keeping it intense and firming up any wobbly bits so you want to feel a bit of burn. I cram a lot in so be prepared.

How will I feel after your class?

You will walk away knowing you've been worked hard and having enjoyed the process.

Tell us something surprising about yourself...

I've jumped out of two aeroplanes, and I've shaken Brad Pitt's hand... and not washed mine since!

Alison O'Regan will work on those common wobbly bits to PERTfection! She also enjoys upping the tempo and burning a few more calories in a class – it can be a great tension/anger release after a tough day! She Kickboxed for the majority of her 'twenties', going into competitions and then instructing. She has also trained in Muai Thai, Martial Arts Weapons, and MMA. She won a Bronze medal at Kickboxing World Championships in Niagra Falls 2006.

What is the best time of the day to practise/exercise?

Everyone is different & you need to listen to your body as to when it feels most physically energised yet mentally needs a rest. The type of exercise that you choose to do will influence whether it increases your adrenaline & wakes you up (e.g. HIIT training) or relaxes you for bedtime (e.g. yin yoga). I love pilates or yoga any time of day & just vary the intensity depending on my energy levels.

What do you recommend to eat before your class? after the class?

Try not to eat anything within an hour of class, but if you must a smoothie, banana or high protein energy ball is best. A high protein salad is always a good option after a workout.

What do you love about Good Vibes?

The positive 'can do' attitude that everyone brings to class & friendly smiles!

What do you teach in class?

Posture! Strong core & hips with stable shoulders are the place to start for everyone.

How will I feel after your class?

Energised and very present. I love teaching as it takes all of your attention so that you're right where you are at that time.

Tell us something surprising about yourself...

I was such a Buffy the Vampire Slayer addict that my dog & cat are named after characters from the TV series!

Nid Seymour has studied pilates for over 15 years, taught dance & aerobics for over 5 years, and is a qualified lawyer with 10 years of working in London's media industries, and blogger on optimum brain health. What is the best time of the day to practise/exercise?

I think this is very dependant on the individual. I most enjoy exercising in the afternoon as I’m not a morning person! I think it is very dependant on your schedule that day and when you can fit in a class.

What do you recommend to eat before your class? After the class?

Make sure you are well hydrated before a class is very important so lots of water or I love coconut water too. If it is an early class, I always like to make sure I’ve had a hearty breakfast of porridge or eggs to give me lots of energy. After class I would recommend a snack of fruit or a cereal bar/energy bar and again lots of water.

What do you love about Good Vibes?

So many things! The teachers are brilliant, the atmosphere of the studios and the hard work and determination of the clients.

What do you teach in class?

With power plates, I like to mix together pilates, yoga and ballet style exercises. I also am a big cardio lover so I like to throw in some plyometric moves, particularly in more advanced classes.

How will I feel after your class?

Like you have worked your body hard but still feel energized. Working out should involve an element of fun so I like everyone to leave with a smile on their face!

Tell us something surprising about yourself...

I’m a professional dancer so love to incorporate elements of my training into my classes.

Lindsay McAllister is a professional dancer as well as power plate and spin cycle instructor. She likes to mix together elements of pilates, yoga and ballet in her exercises, leaving you feeling energized and with a smile on your face…. Don’t be fooled by her sweet exterior, her classes will kick your butt!
