Matt Gill - Glow Yoga Teacher

18 June 2014

GoodVibes-GlowYoga-London-Matt

Matt is a Glow Yoga Teacher, you can book into his classes here.

What is the best time of the day to practise/exercise?

The best time to practise is 11-12 on Saturday mornings, in Covent Garden, but in all seriousness, the best time of day to practise is first thing in the morning. There is a lovely peaceful energy at that time of day and from a practical perspective if you leave it until later in the day then other things often tend to come up and get in the way.

What do you recommend to eat before your class? after the class?

I'd recommend eating very little before class - at least in the preceding two hours. As my class is mid morning it's a good idea to have a healthy breakfast and then leave enough time for it to digest fully. I also like to drink hot water with lemon before I practise - delicious and cleansing. After practice it's a good idea to eat something fresh and healthy such as a piece of fruit - I usually have an apple.

What do you love about Good Vibes?

I love the sense of community, the friendliness and the way that everyone takes a genuine interest in eachother. It's a very lovely and positive environment in which to teach.

What do you teach in class?

I teach a mindful vinyasa style of hatha yoga. My classes combine dynamic flowing sequences with fun and playful elements that challenge the body and mind in lots of different ways. I also like to include some calmer, more introspective sections in each class to allow students to really connect with their bodies and breath.

How will I feel after your class?

My intention is to leave students feeling centred, energised and uplifted after each class.

Tell us something surprising about yourself...

I used to play bass guitar in a heavy metal band...rock on.

Matt Gill believes that yoga is a wonderful gift for creating balance in our lives. He is a British Wheel of Yoga and Yoga Alliance accredited teacher and an assistant asana tutor on the triyoga teacher training program. Having developed his practice within the Ashtanga and Vinyasa Flow schools of yoga, Matt teaches a dynamic style of yoga that is guided by breath and alignment. Taking inspiration from many sources, his classes link poses together with movement and breath to build both strength and flexibility in the body and bring focus to the mind. By combining dynamic flowing sequences with fun and playful elements, Matt’s intention is that his classes will leave you feeling energised and uplifted.

Antonia Ptohides - Glow Pilates Teacher

10 June 2014

GoodVibes-GlowYoga-Pilates-London-Antonia

Antonia is a Glow Pilates teacher, you can book into her classes here.

What is the best time of day to practise/exercise?

Any time that fits to each individual's busy schedule. An early workout wakes you up physically and mentally, giving you the energy to start off a productive day. Never the less catch your breath, recharge your batteries and pop into a lunch time class. Or end your long day with a good workout and go home feeling happier before a good night sleep!!!

What do you recommend to eat before your class? After the class?

A banana before class. Not too filling but gives your body the amount of energy it needs. Can't work those abs on an empty stomach. Also banana's rich in potassium and helps prevent cramps throughout your workout.

Something light after class would be ideal- salad, greek yogurt and fruit.

What do you love about Good Vibes?

All the smiley and happy people!!!

I work every individual to their own personal best and all Good Vibes clients are always up for a challenge.

What do you teach in class?

My Pilates classes offer core stability and body awareness. Coordination, balance and control are the key words for a better posture and a longer and leaner body.

How will I feel after your class?

Amazing!!!! Trust me...

Tell us something surprising about yourself...

I'm addicted to FRIENDS!!!

Antonia Ptohides was born in Cyprus and started ballet classes at the age of 4. In 2010 she moved to London where she completed her MA in Movement Studies at Central School of Speech and Drama. In 2011 Antonia Joined Pilates International where she studied and worked as an apprentice and later on as a principal Pilates instructor. Throughout her work Antonia acknowledges the original form of the Pilates Method, and applies his principals in her classes.

Glow Yang & Yin - Breathe into Positivity

3 June 2014

Outdoor portrait of a woman on a meadow releaxing

Saturday 21st June 2014 3-5 pm £25 BOOK NOW

This workshop will emphasise the use of breath to cultivate a positive outlook in life. The workshop will be split into three parts. The first part will explore a range of pranayama (breathing) techniques, which help to balance our physical, emotional and mental states as well as assist us in letting go of any stress and negativity that we might be holding. The second part will be a fun and dynamic flow using the breath to regulate the pace and quality of movements.

This will include uplifting sequences and provide an opportunity to shake out any tension in the body. The final part of the workshop will consist of restorative and yin postures. In this final phase, we will use the breath as a tool for taking the gaze inwards and directing energy into tense areas of the body helping to relax and replenish the body thus promoting a deep sense of wellbeing, inner calm and positivity.

Clive Fogelman has a creative and open-minded approach to yoga, influenced by his therapeutic work and sporting background. He helps people cultivate intuition within their bodies, mindful that all individuals are different and continually evolving.
