“There was just the right balance between being included in the group and being allowed to be alone as well. The venue had just the right degree of luxury . It was a hugely enjoyable and thought provoking week. I really thought it was good value when taking into consideration the venue, all the food and of course top class yoga!”
Join us on a magical week on the poetic island of Ithaca at the stylish Itha108 yoga retreat. You will enjoy mindful teaching, delicious vegetarian food and great company as well as the stunning remote beaches, all within walkable distance. This is a yoga holiday not a retreat so expect to unravel from the stresses of your life, rebalance your nervous system, have great conversations and smile a lot!
But, we take our yoga seriously too! You will be led by Good Vibes Founder Nahid de Belgeonne and Ruth McNeil, founding Glow Yoga and Pilates teacher. We will guide you through an intelligently sequenced dynamic practice in the morning and a deeply soothing restorative practice in the evenings. We will practice on a beautiful shala under a canopy of sun dappled trees. You will get the attention of two teachers and 5 hours of yoga a day.
Friends, Nahid and Ruth, share similar values in their mindful and creative teaching and their recognition of the importance of cultivating awareness in the body but have diverse approaches so you’ll have a layered experience plus plenty of attention, and hands on adjusts. They teach with humour and are passionate about sharing the joys of yoga with you.
Our mission is to deliver the highest quality yoga teaching that is nourishing yet full of fun and challenge. Our teaching is informed by current anatomical awareness, and other movement practices but remains underpinned by rich, multi-faceted yogic philosophy and the ancient practices of meditation, yoga nidra, mudra, mantra and pranayama.
We emphasise opening, mobilising, and creating freedom in the body, moving through spiralling non-linear movement patterns which in turn allows you to make big leaps in your understanding of yoga as a life-long physical practice, promoting the body to stay elastic, youthful and reducing the risk of injury and wear and tear.
This immersive yoga week is designed to be deeply enriching so that when you do go back to your daily life, you will have the tools to stay emotionally resilient and to live with clarity and courage, feel more connected to your own physicality and continue to move onwards to the next stages of your yoga journey.
This holiday is for those who already practice yoga as well as those who want to start.
We have an afternoon off on Wednesday for an optional speed boat trip to secret coves for swimming and dinner at a pretty port nearby or you can choose to do your own explorations or even stay at the venue and enjoy the peace.
“There were great alignment instructions, clear teaching, each class neatly leading on from the next. I especially liked the way we moved through the koshas over the week, this was a great way to tie the classes together with a common theme and get thinking about yoga philosophy in practice. There was a great emphasis on the feet and teaching from the feet up in every pose. I loved the detail and explanation throughout, all classes were engaging and informative. Having two teachers with one adjusting was great! I learnt a lot that I just do not get to do in normal class situations. Was really helpful and adjustments were non-invasive and supportive. The en-suite bathrooms were clean and lovely, beds very comfortable and luxurious for a retreat!”
Itha108 is a Greek island retreat set in a place of outstanding natural beauty, providing a space specifically for peace, relaxation and practice.
Ithaca, home of Itha108, is one of the smallest in the Ionian island constellation that is radiating with Grecian authenticity. It’s shores play host to a long Homeric and mythical history whose many mysteries are sensed amongst animated panorama and secretive coves. Itha108 overlooks the sea and the eastern coastline of neighbouring Kefalonia from an elevated wilderness of olive trees and exposed rocks that provide the elements around which it is built, allowing its natural beauty to speak for itself. An emphasis on indoor-outdoor living ensures full use of the land and its treasures that extend to sweeping and hidden beaches below.
“The villa was truly beautiful, an oasis of calm. I felt amazing after my week, I loved it”
Itha 108 offers varied accommodation; luxury double bedrooms with en-suite in the main house, luxury yurts with ensuite as well as yurts with shared bathrooms that are staggered up between rocks, forestry and winding walkways.
All pricing is based on shared accommodation and will be allocated on a first come, first served basis. The many social and quiet spaces allow guests to enjoy the landscape and relax.
Food at Itha108 is fresh, sumptuous and made up of local produce. All vegetables are organic and sourced from the best of what Ithaca and neighbouring Kefalonia has to offer. Plentiful, home-cooked menus blend traditional Greek cuisine with a contemporary style. For the retreats, mainly vegetarian food is promoted, although freshly caught fish is available on request.
The cost of the retreat is £995 per person sharing. This includes accommodation, all teaching and food. There is also a luxury option of a stone house with ensuite, should you wish a room on your own there is a supplement to pay. Please request the info sheet.
Saturdays are travel days. There are plenty of flights to Kefalonia, Ithaca's neighbouring island. From there, sea taxis can be arranged to take you to Ithaca as well as transport either side.
Aim for a flight to arrive in Kefalonia around by midday on Saturday and a midday flight going back to benefit from the free transfer, otherwise the transfer is extra. Please check in with us before you book your flights at the 2017 as the Summer flights are not yet public.
Airlines that travel into Kefalonia include: Easy jet, Norwegian Airlines, Monarch and Thomas Cook, they all fly from Gatwick airport.
